Child's Skirt Size Worn as a Grass Skirt (around the waist like a Piupiu) for children up to about 10 years old. Or as a Pake (traditional Maori Raincape) when worn over the shoulders and tied at the back for all sizes (including adults). Great option for early childhood centres as an alternative to piupiu.
Can also be worn as a Maro for adult males - in this size only the front would be covered. The raffia strands can be cut with scissors if you'd like to create the traditional triangular maro shape.
60cm waist which means as a grass skirt it fits children up to about 10 years old; smaller children can have it overlapping like you do with PiuPiu. 45cm cord on both sides. The raffia strands are 50cm high (we can cut them shorter on request - or you can even cut them yourself).
Features a strip of faux fur at top. The raffia strands are plaited together at the top and sewn onto the strip of faux fur, at the same time we sew a wide cotton webbing at the back. The result is a strong skirt that even the keenest young warrior will need to try really hard to pull apart! The grass strands themselves are also nice and tough.
Adult's Skirt Size The adult skirt sized option is double layered and can be made as a skirt or maro. You could also use it as a raincape but the child's skirt is usually large enough for an adult raincape. We don't carry the adult skirt size in stock as we need to know your approximate sizes (doesn't have to be exact as they overlap like piupiu do) and we change the design between skirt and maro. In this size Maro can cover the buttocks if you desire. In the notes section that pops up when you add to cart please let us know waist sizes and if you'd like skirt or maro. Alternatively you can enquire if you have questions or requests. Allow one week for production.
