Heru (hair comb) carved from real beef bone. Large (17cm long) 4 prong comb. Muri Paraoa (whale tail) symbolises speed, strength and sensitivity. Represents the spiritual bond between humans and marine life and serves as a charm for protection and safe passage over water. Also available in Tiki, Koru, Manaia, Pikorua single twist and Pikorua triple twist.
Heru are used to hold and decorate hair in a bun (top knot). Traditionally the head was considered the most sacred part of the body. Because hair was believed to retain a person's spiritual essence the Heru served as a way to honour and protect that spiritual connection.
Available with or without woven kete (bag). Kete makes a very nice gift presentation and safe storage/transport. The top of the Heru will stick out of the kete.
